The Arizona Diamondbacks have lost 23 straight games on the road, the longest losing run in modern-day MLB history. They will be desperate to end that despondent streak when they face the in-form San Diego Padres in the series opener on Friday night.
D-Backs lose again, fall to 21-55 for the season
The Diamondbacks continued their awful form this season with a couple of losses to the Milwaukee Brewers in their previous series. They are now 21-55 for the season, fifth in the NL West. They were beaten 3-2 in the previous game.
As reported by AP: The Diamondbacks have dropped 19 of their last 20 games and 42 of their past 48. Their record fell to 21-55 and they’re on pace to lose more than 115 times this season.
Corbin Martin, who doesn’t have much in terms of body of work this season, are 0-2 for the season with an ERA of 8.62, just 13 strikeouts and a WHIP of well over 2. Too much work to do on Friday.

Padres sweep Dodgers, extend winning run to seven
The Padres swept the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first time in eight seasons to stretch their winning streak to seven games, which also includes a series win against the Cincinnati Reds. They are now 45-32 for the season.
“It’s a pretty level playing field between the two teams and I feel like we’re starting to show them that you’re not going to walk all over us this year and that we’re going to fight, we’ve got the pieces to do it, and now it’s about going out and doing it,” said Musgrove.
Chris Paddack is likely to start for the Padres on Friday. He has a 4-5 record with an ERA of 4.10, 68 strikeouts (68th in the league) with a WHIP of 1.18.
