That Arizona Diamondbacks will go on the road when they tackle Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in the first game in a three-game series. Zac Gallen gets the start of the Diamondbacks. Zach Davies will take the mound to the Cubs.
Zac Gallen Stellar in previous start
Zac Gallen was very good in his previous start, which was against the Chicago Cubs. Gallen went 5.2 innings, gave up an earned run, three hits, twice and hit seven strokes. On the season, he has a record of 1-4 out of 10 starts with a 3.86 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 56/23 K / BB ratio. Trips have been an issue for him. It should come as no great surprise that Arizona has the worst record for any team in the MLB. MLB.com has listed the Diamondbacks as the ninth best farm system in the league. With some talented young players, Diamondback’s future may be bright, but it may be a while.
Davies struggles in earlier starts
Zach Davies struggled in his final start. He went 4.2 innings and gave up six hits, four times, two earned runs and struck out three in a no decision in his final start, which was against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was able to limit the damage to just a few RBI singles. Davies has a record of 5-6 with a 4.35 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and a 62/52 K / BB ratio in 20 starts this season. Opposite hits hit .253 against Davies this season. Trips have been an issue for Davies recently. He has given up twice or more in each of the last 11 games.

Power has not been an issue for the Cubs this season. They are top 10 in home runs. They are in the middle of the league in the race, RBIs, SLG and OPS. Kris Bryant leads the team in the race, hits, stroke value, SLG and OPS. Javier Baez leads the team in home runs, RBIs and stolen bases. He is top 10 in the NL in home races and RBI. Both Javier Baez and Kris Bryant are two players that the Cubs could look at moving on the trade deadline.
The Cubs have a down season and will not play the playoffs. They have some talented players and could be very busy at the trade deadline.
